Compensation: $25 – $28/ hour (full-time / permanent)

Health Care Facilities Special Projects Carpenter – General Repair Technician (GRT)

Carpenters (GRT) at On Side rebuild and restore damaged property anywhere and anytime a disaster strikes in the Health Care sector.  With the goal of getting things back to a pre-disaster state GRTs use the skills of carpenters, drywallers, painters and magicians!  Making clients believe magic has happened is all part of a day for a GRT.

Responsible for…

The multi-talented GRT is skilled in the following ways:

• Special carpentry projects as assigned
• Drywalling, mudding, sanding and finishing
• Brush and roller painting
• Building, set up and poly on containments
• Demolition
• Abatement (mould and asbestos remediation)
• Emergency work
• Ceiling tiles
• Moving materials and/or furniture as needed

What you bring

The GRT brings a host of abilities to their work, not the least being a ‘get it done!’ attitude.  Additional abilities required include:

• Commitment to keeping a clean environment
• Experience working in construction environments
• Tools and the skills to use them
• Using previous knowledge and skills to problem solve/assess/create
• Versatility, willingness to help with any and all jobs
• Strong people and communication skills
• Attention to detail, passion for quality and pride in the work you do
• A safety mindset: willing to wear PPE as required for the job, including full face masks (clean shaven face if applicable)
• Valid drivers license
• Ability to pass a criminal record check
• Ability to communicate in English

Other stuff that’ll help you be successful but isn’t mandatory:

• Skilled trades ticket (Carpenter, Painter, Cabinetmaker)
• IICRC certification (restoration focus)
• WHMIS
• First Aid

Of Note

Disasters can strike at any time so a rotating schedule of 24/7 after hours on-call work is not mandatory but a discussion to be had with the manager.
