Boyle Street Community Services (BSCS) and On Side Restoration are back with their third annual drive-thru donation drive. Sporting superheroes, hot cars, and tons of food, On Side is hoping to stock the BSCS emergency donation room with sweatpants, socks, sleeping bags, and travel size personal hygiene items for Edmonton’s most vulnerable citizens.
BSCS and On Side started their relationship after one of BSCS’ many floods. Ian Mathieson, the Operations Director at the time, said he was really impressed with On Side’s quality of work, and the way they were respectful of their employees, the Boyle Street Community Centre, and the community that BSCS serves. What started out as a job quickly became a partnership that supported not just the physical structure of the Community Centre, but also the material needs of those that BSCS serve.
“I would say they treated us as a partner not as just another client. They were respectful to our staff and to our building and our facility, but also to our community members when they did interact with them,” Ian said.
Dwayne Harris, Operations Manager, Edmonton said “Our team is very excited to be back supporting BSCS for a third year! Our staff recognize the need for and importance of giving back to the community, as it strongly aligns with our company values. Coming together as a community and collaborating with our industry partners and Boyle Steet is a highlight of our year!”
Last year the collective effort generated a multitude of hygiene products and gently used warm winter clothing, in addition to gathering over 4,500 pairs of new socks. Their goal this year is also to surpass last years achievement of $13,000 in cash donations, setting the bar at $15k for 2022.
Item donations are being collected on October 1st, 2022, from 10 AM to 3 PM at On Side Restoration’s West End Edmonton office parking lot at 18547 104 Ave NW. To provide a cash donation or to learn more about how you can support Boyle Street Community Services, visit www.boylestreet.org
